According to data from the BC Centre for Disease Control, from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, there were 40 COVID-19 cases in our region. That is down from Nov. 21 to 27, when there were 74 cases of COVID-19 in the Howe Sound region.
Nov. 14 to 20th, there were 28 cases.
From January 2020 to November 2021, there have been 3,466 cases of COVID-19 in the region.
Vaccine coverage
Of those eligible over 12 years old in Howe Sound, 98% have received their first dose, while 93% have received a second dose and 8% have received a third dose.
As of Dec. 7, 9% of those five to 11 years old have received their first dose.
School exposures
Vancouver Coastal Health lists two independent schools with potential exposures.
Squamish Waldorf School had potential exposures on Nov. 15 to 18, and Nov. 23 to 25.
Skyridge Montessori School had potential exposures between Nov. 8 to 10, and Nov. 22 to 23.
This does not mean there were no potential exposures at other schools. The only potential vulnerabilities listed by the health authority are those where there is an increased risk of ongoing transmission of COVID-19 to groups the students or staff were a part of, for example, others in the class.
