Sarah Braebrook - For Council

Council candidate

I am trained to lead and I am trained to listen. My platform is Ability, Integrity and Public Service. I come to Council to apply my skills and experience for the value of the people of the District. For all those who continue to say that they do not feel they are represented on Council I say - talk to me.

A resident of Squamish for 18 years, I have served on the board of Castlerock Family Housing, The Howe Sound Women's Centre, the Squamish Library Board, been a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Royal Canadian Legion, Rotary, St John's Parish Council & St John's Mews Society (established to attempt to develop low cost Senior's housing). While living in Vancouver, I also sat on the board for a low-cost Senior's Housing high-rise and another charitable board of directors. I was trained by the Squamish RCMP and worked patrolling in the Citizen's Patrol Volunteer Network.

I started in banking and worked in financial management of the bank's operating assets a strong grounding in financial rules and regulations. I clearly understand the profit requirements of big business and investors. I understand the need to facilitate development efficiently. I have owned and managed small businesses I understand the need for a healthy sales environment. I am deeply committed to a safe community for our children and all citizens and protecting our precious natural resources.

I have an Honours Degree in Political Science from UBC, Pastoral Theology from Pacific Life, and am currently completing my exams for a Master's Degree in Business Administration. I hold a Commission in the Canadian Armed Forces training through the Reserves as a Logistics Officer and serving attached to the Regular Armed Forces as a Finance Officer.

For the past two years my work as an Independent Financial Advisor has been in hiatus and my time consumed as primary care giver to my Alzheimer's sister and dealing with bereavement issues. That's now completed.

I want to apply my knowledge and experience to the larger responsibility of working for the good of this community. I am asking you to vote for me for the position of Councillor.
