Canada Day celebrations are returning in full force to the Pemberton Valley this year.

On May 26, the Village of Pemberton (VOP) announced the plans for this year's Canada Day in Spud Valley, and the public is welcome to come to the Pemberton and District Community Centre on July 1 to mark the country's 156th birthday.

The ever-popular Spud Run is returning this year, and will begin at 8 a.m. at the Pemberton and District Community Centre, registration will open on June 8. For those wishing to participate in the run the VOP recommends arriving by 7:45 am, participants will receive a voucher for one pound of potatoes from Helmers Farm.

Following the run, the annual Canada Day procession will start at 10:15 am at Pemberton and District Community Centre and finish at the downtown Community Barn. Celebrations after the parade will continue at the barn from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will be limited parking available at the community barn, downtown, and the Community Centre parking lot after 10:45am. BC Transit will be continuing to run its regular service on Saturday, July 1.

Anyone wishing to participate in the parade can reach out to Natalie at nlangmann@pembertonchamber.com

In Whistler, the municipality is again opting not to proceed with the beloved Canada Day parade, which has not run in the resort since 2019.

More info will be posted to pemberton.ca.
