Is there a Squamish holiday light tour this year?

Yes, there is! There’s also Light Up Squamish: Holiday Window Wars

Nothing says the holiday season is here like festive lights on houses and businesses around town.

BC Transit, Squamish Transit, and the District of Squamish are once again putting on its traditional lights tour on Sunday, Dec. 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

"This year has been an extremely challenging year for so many British Columbians. Now more than ever is the time to come together and give back to lift the spirits of family, friends and community in the upcoming weeks," notes BC Transit in its news release. "Across the province in a number of transit systems, there will be events to safely bring people together to spread some holiday cheer."

In Squamish, buses will pick up passengers at 5:30 p.m. from Shannon Falls Retirement Home, The Manors, The Cedars and Eagle Grove lobby, taking folks onboard to see some of the displays in town.

The Squamish Transit operators will provide hot chocolate and doughnuts.

In accordance with the Provincial Health Officer, masks are required on all BC Transit Buses, including for this tour.

Light Up Squamish

Light Up Squamish: Holiday Window Wars is also underway until Jan. 3. Presented by Tourism Squamish, the Squamish Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association, participating businesses have decorated their front windows. Locals can scan the QR code sticker on their favourite window to vote.

Those who participate will be entered to win a $50 gift card to be randomly drawn throughout the month of December.

The top three businesses to receive the most votes will receive $1,000 to donate to a local charity of their choice.
