Photos: Grizzly spotted roaming northern Whistler neighbourhood

Public should secure attractants and pets, keep distance, use extreme caution

Whistler residents living north of the resort take note: a grizzly bear is reportedly roaming the area around the Rainbow neighbourhood.

B.C.'s Conservation Officer Service confirmed there is a grizzly in the neighbourhood, and photos sent to Pique and posted to social media show a clear view of the large predator with its tell-tale hump.

Grizzly sightings are rare in the valley, but have been increasing in recent years.

The extremely dangerous predators can cover a lot of ground. The COS advised residents to keep their distance, keep pets inside or on a leash, and to secure all attractants.

Under no circumstances should you approach a grizzly bear. Read more about grizzlies here.
