The Squamish Public Library is getting souped up at the end of the year

In a news release, the library announced a renovation that would impart a slew of upgrades including:

  • New feature wall, highlighting new and recommended titles;
  • New central service desk;
  • New public computer area;
  • Permanent exterior take-out window for quick access from our parking lot;
  • Improvements to staff work area.
As a result, the building will be shutting down on Dec. 12 for work on the facility. It will reopen in early January, though the exact date has yet to be determined.

However, there will still be service available.

This includes take-out loans, e-book collections, movies and more.

The following services are available around the clock with your library card:

 Digital collections and services

The library's digital collections and services are available 24/7 with your Squamish library card.

  • Libby the Library App: Download ebooks, audiobooks and magazines to your mobile devices using Libby;
  • Kanopy: Over 30,000 movies you can stream using your computer, smartphone, tablet, or TV;
  • LinkedIn Learning: Online courses taught by industry experts in business, creative, and technology;
  • Creativebug: Thousands of award-winning online art and craft classes.

The library is also encouraging people to stock up on items before they close on Dec. 12. The loan period will be extended into the new year, so you can keep your items until reopening day.
