Ball drop benefits foundation

Squamish Hospital Foundation gears up for annual fundraiser

You don’t have to be a golfer to get a hole-in-one – all you need is a ticket.

The Squamish Hospital Foundation is excited to announce the return of the Blackcomb Aviation Golf Ball Drop for a second year. On Monday (Sept. 15) at the wrap-up of The Dr. Kindree Memorial Golf Tournament, hundreds of golf balls will fall from the sky to raise money for the Squamish Hospital Foundation.

After the success of last year’s inaugural helicopter drop, Blackcomb Aviation will again take to the sky. Numbered golf balls will be dropped onto the ninth fairway.  Prizes will be awarded based on distance from the “pin.”  Anyone can participate in the ball drop, whether they attend or not.

Prizes include a helicopter tour for two, $100 dinner, a one night’s stay in a one bedroom at the Executive Suites Hotel, two seats on Sewell’s sea safari two-hour tour of Howe Sound, Scandinave Spa Bath passes for two and a one-hour massage.

The foundation will host a sold out 16th annual Dr. Kindree Memorial charity golf tournament, presented by Scotia Bank, on Monday, Sept. 15, at the Squamish Valley Golf Club.  The tournament is currently sold out. Last year’s tournament raised $40,000.

Proceeds from this tournament will go towards funding a new anaesthetic machine for the hospital with state of the art technology.
