Students and teachers from what was formerly Cedar Valley Waldorf School celebrated at the unveiling of the school’s new name – Squamish Waldorf School.

“We are thrilled to make this announcement,” said principal Christine Martin in a news release. “Not only does this change visually reflect us more accurately, the name demonstrates that our beautiful Waldorf school really does belong to the entire community of Squamish.”

The school also has a new design that pays homage to the Stawamus Chief and the streams, rivers and waterfalls that lead to Howe Sound.

“Over the years we have had numerous families move here – from China, Mexico, Argentina, southern states in the U.S., and all across Canada – simply for our school and pedagogy. They have worked their family life and careers around attending what was then Cedar Valley Waldorf School. We are very proud to play a strong role in the growth and development of Squamish in this way,” said Martin, adding that the board of directors forecasts continued growth in enrolment and is planning to build a new facility at a new location by 2021.
