Squamish Community Engaged Mural Project – Family Fun and Community Mural Painting Party on Saturday.

It is not every day you are invited to "get messy" at a library, but this is Squamish — we do things other places may not.

The Squamish Public Library is inviting folks to come out on May 21, to help paint a mural on the library's back wall.

You will be assisting mural artists — and sisters — Erica and Maddy Phillips.  "Working with colour, texture, pattern and shape, Erica

and Maddy build abstract and graphic landscapes imagined from west coast scenery," reads a news release about the event.

There will be snacks, music, and collaborative painting with families and neighbours.

The event is a Hi Neighbour Squamish United Way initiative.

Over the past year, United Way British Columbia has worked with the library and the artists to consult with residents about what they want to see in this

mural, the release states.

Now it is finally time for the mural to come to life this Victoria Day long weekend.

"Please come prepared to get messy!"
