The deadline for Squamish Artwalk submissions is looming.

On June 16, the call for art will be closed, and organizers will be sorting through the work that will be displayed during the month-long event in September.

“It will be a unique opportunity to see a exhibits of local artists all over Squamish,” said Elena Whitman, who heads VISUALS, the organization in charge of the event.

Open to artists of all mediums, it’s a special occasion that marks the event’s return to town. The last time Squamish Artwalk happened, it was in 2013, but was cut because of financing and manpower issues.

However, this year, grants from organizations like the Squamish Arts Council and the Squamish-Lilloet Regional District have helped revive the event.

Taking place all over town, coffee shops, galleries, restaurants, community facilities and more will be displaying artwork featuring local talent.

Those interested can also apply to have their facility become an exhibition space.

Organizers will then stock those places with local artwork, and admirers will be able to come in and enjoy the work.

Brackendale Art Gallery and the Squamish Adventure Centre are just some examples of the facilities that will be showcasing the art.

If you’d like to open your space for the Artwalk, you have until July 1.
