The biggest grudge match of the year on the local diamond is back.
The second Doctors vs. Nurses charity baseball game returns to Brennan Park on Saturday (July 18), with the Doctors looking for revenge after suffering a 14-13 loss in the first game in 2013.
Proceeds from the game go towards the Squamish Hospice Society, and the 2013 edition of the game raised more than $5,000. This year features door prizes, a 50/50 draw, a bake sale, a silent auction, a barbecue, a beer garden and a candy shop on site at Brennan Park.
“The game will be a bit more competitive this year per the players’ request but will still have some of the fun elements from 2013, only the players won’t know when to expect those,” said event organizer Nicole Carothers.
The game features underhand tossing for all batters and will last six innings. A new element for 2015 is the Dunk Your Doctor dunk tank. Are you angry after your last check-up? Fans get the chance to soak their doctor for a small fee.
Tickets for the event are a $5 donation and first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. on the North Diamond at the Brennan Park Centennial Fields.
