Hollywood Squamish: Jennifer Lopez's new Netflix movie partially shot in Squamish

According to Netflix, the scene in 'The Mother' where the mom, played Jennifer Lopez, and her daughter Zoe go to pick up supplies at the market was filmed at the Darrell Bay Ferry Terminal.

Most Squamish locals know that the Netflix hit series Virgin River films in Squamish, but did you know that Jennifer Lopez also had a Netflix show shooting in the Sea to Sky? 

It is true.

The action-thriller film The Mother, starring Lopez and Joseph Fiennes, among others, spent time filming at the Darrell Bay Ferry Terminal, according to a news release from Netflix In Your Neighbourhood.

Released on the streaming service May 12, the film follows Lopez, “a deadly female assassin,” as she comes out of hiding to protect her daughter, who she gave up years before while on the run from dangerous men.

The close-to-two-hour film was also shot in Smithers, Agassiz and Vancouver.

Virgin River, heading into its fifth season, follows a nurse who moves from LA to a remote northern California town and is surprised by what she finds. 

It stars Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, and Tim Matheson.

Virgin River has featured the Watershed Grill as the exterior of Jack’s Bar, Klahanie Campground as Fitches Bed and Breakfast, and often has shots of the Squamish River.

The romantic series is also shot in Burnaby, Langley, and Vancouver.
