Supporters of Squamish's downtown transformation initiative are aiming to kickstart the process with a series of outdoor beautification sessions this week.

The Imagine Squamish events, which began on Wednesday (June 19), continue tonight (Thursday, June 20), when volunteers are invited to meet at 5 p.m. at the corner of Second Avenue and Pemberton Street (near OutWest) to help beautify the streetscape along Cleveland and Second avenues. Participants are asked to bring gloves, garden tools, shovels and buckets and help pick weeds between the curb and the storefronts, beautify existing planter boxes, plant donated plants, install new planters and sweep up gravel and other debris.

That effort will continue on Friday through Sunday (June 21 to 23). For more information, visit them on Facebook by keying in Imagine Squamish: building a better block.
