The District of Squamish opens up its facilities for public works week

Last year, Quinton Feser, 9, and his classmates saw how many people they could fit in an electric car at the District of Squamish's public works yard during Public Works Week.

The District of Squamish joins other municipalities across North America in celebrating the 54th annual National Public Works Week.

“Public Works Week helps to showcase the people and services that deliver essential services to our community,” says Mayor Rob Kirkham. “The men and women of the Public Works division deliver Squamish’s essential services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to ensure we have clean water when we turn on the tap, or a safe road to drive on, for example.”

The annual school tour is planned from 9 a.m to 12:30 p.m. on May 21, 2014 at the District’s Public Works Yard. The Public Works Yard will be open to members of the public in the afternoon of May 21. Tours will be offered at 1:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.
