Downtown businesses have teamed up to encourage Squamish residents to shop local this Christmas.
Starting the day of the Santa Claus Parade – Dec. 1 – there are 21 chances to win stockings filled with gifts during the new campaign, named 21 Days of Christmas.
Each store has its own special day and, if you shop there on that day and fill out a ballot, you could win.
“There are many exciting things happening throughout the month of December – special little extras on each store’s special the day,” said Anne Kadwell, executive director of the Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association, which organized the campaign. “There are juices, clothing, technical classes, cozy boots, super soaps, plants, chocolate, tea, runners, games, yoga classes, breathing classes, toasty coffee, yummy goodies and so much more.”
Back in September, with Christmas already on their minds, five business owners and the BIA gathered to brainstorm on how to entice local shoppers to explore more of the downtown area. They came up with the 21 Days of Christmas.
“We wanted to focus on showcasing the individuality of each store while giving a little something back to those who support local” said Kadwell.
The stockings are made by The Hive, and each business is stuffing them with goodies worth at least $100.
The winners will be drawn at the Squamish Winter Farmers’ Market on Dec. 22.
