One-man travel show comes to Squamish

William Jans puts on multimedia show about his travels in Asia

Professional photographer and prolific traveler William Jans is bringing his live multimedia show, A man, a plan, Japan, to Squamish for the first time.

Jans’ one-man show will be about his trials and tribulations on his latest trip to China and Japan.

He has been touring his different travel shows for 17 years.

“The reason these are popular… is it is the absurdity, sometimes the things that go wrong,” he said. “It is very culturally responsible, it is very well informed and well researched, but it is also very fun.”

He even ended up visiting the heart of Fukushima on his latest trip, where the earthquake and nuclear leaks happened.

Audiences should expect a quick-moving show that includes stories, pictures and a few costume changes, Jans said. “Although it is my trip, if I do my job right it isn’t my trip anymore, it is your trip – you’re in the thick of things.”

The show will be staged on April 16 at Howe Sound Secondary’s Eagle Eye Theatre.
