Park membership is a great value

As we enter the second month of the summer season, the West Coast Railway Heritage Park is experiencing many visitors and extra activities.

As we enter the second month of the summer season, the West Coast Railway Heritage Park is experiencing many visitors and extra activities. This is the time when frequent visitors enjoy the great weather and the opportunity to explore the constantly changing exhibits and activities.

A newly-acquired handcar, or pump car, is now available for operation every day on the main track at the Mac Norris Station. Experience the thrill and fun of pumping your way along the tracks just as old time railway workers did before motorized speeders became the norm. Rides are just $2 per person for this unique experience.

A new steam exhibit has opened in the Mac Norris Station meeting room, consisting of artifacts and hand built steam locomotive models from the 1940s, by Edgar C. Smith. The Smith family was on hand during SteamFest to officially unveil this new exhibit donated to us in their late father and grandfather's name. The exhibit is open for viewing every day.

Come on down Aug. 23, as the Heritage Park hosts its annual Mini Rail Day. There will be guest engines all day, and rides are the usual $3 per person - unless, of course, you are a member in which case the rides are free.

After the day ends at 5 p.m., members are invited to join us on our annual Members' Picnic - a great social and food time that is also free to members.

Membership in the West Coast Railway Association is a great value and keeps getting better and better. For as little as $35 per individual, $45 per family an annual membership provides unlimited access to the Heritage Park, free mini rail rides, merchandise discounts, as well as special member events and volunteering opportunities.

You also get our informative monthly newsletter either electronically or in paper copy. You will always be aware of coming events and special exhibits that are fun for the whole family.

Inquire about membership at the Heritage Park or through our website at www.wcra.org. There are lots of exciting new things coming in the next year, and by being a member you won't miss any of them! By being a member you become an integral part of Squamish's largest attraction and part of our ongoing growth and accomplishment.
