Put your eggs in one basket this weekend

Most boys and girls love to participate in an Easter Egg Hunt and a popular one each year is at Brennan Park and on Easter Sunday (April 8). The Squamish Firefighters Association and the Easter Bunny will be ready for the hunt that starts at 11 a.m.

The Squamish Firefighters Association and the Easter Bunny will be ready for the hunt that starts at 11 a.m. Following the hunt, an Easter Skate is planned at the arena from noon to 2 p.m.

The Britannia Mine Museum has a Dino Egg Hunt planned on Easter Sunday and you are invited to join the staff for a unique egg hunt. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

On Easter Sunday, the West Coast Railway Heritage Park is having a Scavenger Hunt from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Admission is by donation. The mini rail will be operating and the cost is $3.50 per person.

The Squamish Public Library and Quest University Canada Lecture series will have Dr. Andre Lambelet speaking on "I Have Two Hundred Cartridges: France, Soldiers, Citizens and the Limits of Consent in the Great War." What makes soldiers at war stop fighting? Plan on being at the Squamish Library on Thursday (April 12) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to find out what Dr. Lambelet has to say on this subject.

Memoir writing starts at the Seniors Centre on Tuesday (April 10) at 9:30 a.m. and you are asked to register in advance. The first Investment Club meeting is today (April 5) at 9:45 a.m. and the next one is planned for Thursday (April 19) at the same time. Zumba for all age at the centre starts April 17 and 19. Please register in advance. Tai chi sessions are held each Friday until June 15 from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m.

A Trivia Night is planned in the Valleycliffe Elementary School's gym on Friday (April 13) with doors open at 6 p.m. and trivia starting at 7 p.m. Trivia Night is an evening of fun, prizes, laughter, competition and teamwork. The tickets are $15 per person, which will include two bowls of chips and one pizza per table. A concession stand will also have non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. All proceeds are for Valleycliffe Elementary's Grade 6/7 class for their end-of-year field trip to the Kettle Valley Railway.

There is another Farmers' Market at the CN Conference Centre at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park on Sunday (April 8) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Caregivers Support Group meeting will be held on Wednesday (April 11) from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Seniors Centre.

The Friends of the Library are holding a book sale at the Squamish Library on Saturday and Sunday, April 21 and 22. Books in good condition can be left at the library anytime after April 14 excluding textbooks, Readers' Digest or National Geographic magazines.

Tickets are still available for the Howe Sound Women's Centre Society's 30th Anniversary Gala in the CN Roundhouse and Convention Centre at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park on Saturday, April 14, at 7 p.m. The keynote speaker will be distinguished visiting Professor at Ryerson University Stephen Lewis along with Katrina Pacey, director with the Pivot Legal Society. Tickets are still available at $75 each, along with a limited student price of $55, at the Women's Centre at 38021 Third Ave. or call (604) 892-5748 for more information.

The Hilltop House Support Society will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday (April 12) at 9:30 a.m. and new members are welcome to attend.

"For The Beauty of the Earth" is a fabric and fibre art show and fundraiser for the roof at St. John's Anglican Church. It will take place at the church at 1930 Diamond Rd. on April 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This non-juried show will host workshops (pre-registration required) on April 20 (beginner's quilt) and newspaper basket weaving on April 21 from 9 a.m. to noon. Many churches in our community will have special Good Friday and Easter Sunday services this weekend and a warm welcome will be extended to you, your family and visitors at the church of your choice.
