The delegation, including Beverly Brown (back row far left) is heading to Australia for a reconciliation initiative.

A Squamish Nation woman is currently in Australia for a reconciliation initiative, Canadian-Australia Reconciliation Dialogue.

Beverly Brown left Sunday night for a 15-day trip down under as part of a United Church of Canada delegation.

“I am volunteering my time to go and share our Canadian colonial experience as an Indigenous woman and an intergenerational trauma survivor,” Brown said on her Go Fund Me page she started to help pay for the trip.

“We will exchange personal experiences with each other and we will all benefit in sharing our colonial experiences with Australian Aborigines in a faith-based context.”

Brown was picked out of 150 applicants, she told The Chief.

“I am really excited,” she said.

A delegation from the Uniting Church in Australia was here in Canada last summer.
