Rotary Club of Squamish has a new president

Long-time local Kevin Haberl promises the club will continue helping others in town and beyond.

Kevin Haberl is the new president of the Rotary Club of Squamish.

Haberl officially took office on July 1, and will serve for the 2023-24 rotary year.

A long-time resident of Squamish,  Haberl has had a career in the forestry industry.

According to a news release, when he was installed in the new position on June 21 at an event held at Centrepoint, he said the club was in a good position to help others.

“Looking ahead, we will continue to support our ongoing local projects, such as working with the Food Bank and Under One Roof, with organizations such as SquamishCan, Squamish Downtown BIA, and MediCar; and an exciting opportunity with an oceanfront park. Internationally, we will support the children’s home in Mexico, the refuge for girls in Manila and others. I would also wish to see how best we can improve our environment, to raise awareness of mental health in our community, and to continue on the path of reconciliation with our First Nations neighbours."
