Looks like Squamish might have a star in the making.
Marissa Miller, a Grade 9 student from Don Ross, just won best actress under 18 for the short film, Lifelines, at the Auckland International Film Festival.
The film centres around a troubled teen who finds refuge in a dangerous habit, according the IMDb.com summary.
Released this year, the eight-minute movie was put together by Curious Cat Productions with an estimated budget of about $12,000, the site says.
The goal of the festival is to provide a platform for indie filmmakers.
“All of the films will go through the three stage review process by our highly qualified and experienced jury who will go through a comprehensive evaluation process and select only high quality films,” reads the festival’s site.
The event will take place from June 2 to 3.
