The Canada Council for the Arts has granted $38,000 to the Squamish Arts Council.

This cash will be for developing a digital literacy project for the community’s arts sector.

“We’re very excited for this project and appreciative of the Canada Council for the Arts to help arts and culture organizations keep pace with and even innovate with the rest of the world,” said Cydney Lyons, of the Squamish Arts Council in a news release.

“Arts have the awesome power to invoke emotion, critical thought, and inspire generations. Technology, art, and innovation can lead through the digital era hand in hand if provided the right tools.”

The council will be working with a local project manager and KPMG to co-ordinate a community wide stakeholder session that will ask the arts sector about how can digital technology address their challenges.

“A key piece of this puzzle is the digital partner, and we’ll be working with KPMG” said project manager Alexander Moir of Sky to Soul Services.

“As one of the largest management consultants in the world, KPMG’s reach and understanding of business and community is immense. We are confident that with their expertise we are getting the best of technology literacy in Canada.”
