It promises to be an evening of diverse jazz to get the toes tapping and the hands clapping.

The Howe Sound Performing Arts Association presents "Jazz Night!" which will feature, among others, tunes ranging from old favourites like "Round Midnight" and "Strasbourg-St. Denis," to classics such as "I've Never Been in Love."

This concert at the Eagle Eye Community Theatre features the Kirsten Price Trio and Connor Lum with the Capilano University Jazz Quintet.

Familiar faces will be on the stage as well as in the audience. The Kirsten Price Trio is made up of vocalist Kirsten Price, and Quest University sociolinguistics professor and pianist, Keely Kidner.

"After bonding over their shared affection for Billy Strayhorn's 'Lush Life,' a duo was formed," reads an association news release on the event.

Fellow Quest professor and bass player Jeff Warren takes the third spot in the trio.

The Trio performed at the gondola at Valentine's Day and their summer "Wine Down" as well as at private functions.

Lum, who was born and raised in Squamish, has performed in the Howe Sound Music Festival, the "Locals" concerts, and won an HSPAA sponsored scholarship towards his studies.

He is currently in his second year studying saxophone at the Capilano University Jazz Music program.

He's bringing up some of his classmates to Squamish to round out the Quintet with trumpet, trombone, piano, drums, and bass.

"Jazz Night" happens on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Eagle Eye Theatre (inside Howe Sound Secondary). Doors open at 7 p.m. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online at howesoundarts.tickit.ca and Xoco Westcoast Chocolates on Cleveland Avenue.
