Between Shifts Theatre Society received several accolades at the recent Theatre BC North Shore Zone Festival of Plays.
The Squamish theatre company won best overall production for The Gravitational Pull of Bernice Trimble at the festival, which ran Apr 29 to May 5.
“This touching, sometimes humorous play by Beth Graham, engaged audiences in the very topical issue of dealing with Alzheimer’s with loved ones, and highlighted the struggles families have in dealing with and responding to this terrible disease,” said the society’s managing director Kathy Daniels, adding there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when the play was presented on May 4.

Best supporting actor – Todd Weitzel
Best supporting actress – Claire Lindsay
Best sound – Mike Hewitt
Best lighting – Mike Hewitt
Best crew –Tea Stefiuk, Barb Stover, Janet Dundas, Chris French, Chris Manuel
Unsung hero award – Barb Stover
“Adjudicator Michael Armstrong was presented with many high-calibre productions and fine performances,” reads a release from the festival, which announced the winners. “However, one production stood out above all others. The Gravitational Pull of Bernice Trimble.”
The awards night was held on Saturday, May 5, at Presentation House in North Vancouver.
In July, Between Shifts Theatre Society will go on to compete provincially representing Squamish and the North Shore Zone in Vernon.
