Non-perishable food, new toys and financial donations top the list of items needed for the 38th annual Community Christmas Care campaign.
Last year, around 250 hampers were given to families and individuals living in Squamish.
“Given the present economic situation, it is likely that we will be called upon to serve even more people this year, so your help is needed once again,” says the Community Christmas Care website.
Boxes have been placed around Squamish, including at The Squamish Chief office, to drop off donations until Thursday, Dec. 13. Money can be given at Squamish Savings, The Chief’s office or online at communitychristmascare.com.
Alternatively, donations, including cash and cheques, can be dropped off at McDonald’s Christmas fundraising event on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 6 to 10 a.m.
Mag’s 99 is holding a fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 5 p.m. to late with live music, $3 tacos and $5 beer. All money raised goes to Community Christmas Care.
Volunteer opportunities include sorting the donations on Dec. 17, packing on Dec. 19 and delivery on Dec. 20. Visit communitychristmascare.com for more information.
