Squamish's Westwinds to host another art show in June

After the first show's success, Westwinds artists will host another art show and sale on June 17.

Artists from the Westwinds are hosting another art show and sale for the public.

After a successful event on March 11 and 12, organizer Ken Kwok told The Squamish Chief that they would be hosting another event on June 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be held at the Westwinds building on 38275 Third Ave., which is nearby Save-On-Foods.

“Come check out a wide variety of exquisite paintings, rock arts, saw blade paintings, sculptures, greeting cards and many more,” reads the flyer for the event.

The last they held the event, they had about 13 or 14 artists which Kwok expects to be about the same number for this event. Kwok said a couple of councillors and Mayor Armand Hurford attended the last event.

“Some of the works, I will say they’re masterpieces,” Kwok previously said of the artists at Westwinds. “They’re all retired but still young at heart.”

The Westwinds opened in April 2022 for the residents and later had a well-attended ribbon-cutting celebration in October. A hallway is dedicated to hanging some of the artwork by the residents who live there.
