Seasonal sounds are coming to Squamish thanks to the new Summer Acoustic Series at Onatah Coffee starting on July 7.
Squamish’s Danielle Sweeney, who also fronts Lovecoast, decided to put the series together to help continue to build the local music scene and create a new spotlight for musicians in town.
The shows run from 5 to 7 p.m. on every Tuesday starting on July 7 and running until Aug. 25. Shows are by donation and all proceeds go back to the performers.
“I’m doing this just for fun and to support local and touring bands coming through town,” Sweeney said. “Slowly but surely the music scene in Squamish is growing.”
The series kicks off with Vancouver’s Connor Roff on July 7, followed by Vancouver’s Alexandria Maillot on July 14. The July 21 show features David Vertesi from Vancouver band Hey Ocean, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald from Calgary and Twin Bandit from East Vancouver.
Relatively new local band Brackendale performs on Aug. 4, with Squamish’s Will Ross hitting the stage on Aug. 18 and Badgerchild tentatively scheduled for Aug. 25. Also appearing is: Canmore’s Layten Kramer on July 28 and Vancouver’s Gina Loes on Aug. 11.
