Serving up tapas-style Pacific Northwest cuisine in downtown Squamish, The Salted Vine Kitchen + Bar has received its latest award just in time for its one-year anniversary this September.
The restaurant made Air Canada’s enRoute magazine’s top 30 new Canadian restaurants, a recognition which director Pat Allan and executive chef Jeff Park are extremely excited about.
Park has also been invited to compete in the Gold Metal Plate competition, a nation-wide competition that seeks to highlight Canadian excellence in cuisine.
Some local recognition the restaurant has enjoyed includes making Metro Vancouver’s 10 Best New Restaurants of 2016, as well as the Where magazine award for best new restaurant in the Whistler area.
Allan believes that the seasonal tapas-style cuisine, coupled with a catered selection of wines and cocktails, has allowed the Salted Vine to stand out.
Additionally, Allan credits some of the Salted Vine’s success to the restaurants passion for offering genuine hospitality and appreciation of the products it works with – something Squamish’s changing demographic is looking for.
Before starting the Salted Vine, Park and Allan had been essential part of the team at Whistler’s Araxi Restaurant + Oyster Bar for decades.
No longer having to commute to Whistler for work, the two Squamish residents can now enjoy working locally, and because of this, their respective families can come visit more easily. Park says that personally, having his two kids swing by the workplace has to be one of the best moments at the Salted Vine.
The restaurant’s local and national success, coupled with its upcoming anniversary, has inspired Park and Allan to begin working on a special menu. Eager patrons will be able to get glimpse of the menu sometime this fall.
