Everyone’s favourite smiling blue train is ready to return to Squamish.

The 10th annual Day Out with Thomas event returns to the West Coast Heritage Railway Park for four days of fun on June 7 and 8 and June 14 and 15.

The event is known as one of the busiest and most anticipated weekends of the year at the park and this year should be no exception.

Day Out with Thomas gives children and Thomas fans of all ages the opportunity to take a ride on Thomas, meet Sir Topham Hatt (the controller of the railway) and experience a day full of Thomas-themed activities at the Thomas and Friends Imagination Station inside the CN Roundhouse Centre.

Fans will be able to take a 25-minute ride with a 15-ton replica of Thomas the Tank Engine, created by author Rev. W. Awdry and his son Christopher. Kids will also get to enjoy crafts, storytelling, magicians and live music throughout the day. Other activities include mailing a letter to Thomas or his friends, Thomas tattoos, a bouncy castle and the chance to get a photo with Thomas.

It’s recommended that those attending arrive at least an hour ahead of their scheduled train departure to allow time to park and walk onto the site. Train boarding commences 20 minutes before the departure time and trains depart the station right on time. If you miss your train, the park cannot guarantee a later ride as they are generally sold out. Officials also pointed out that the event will go on rain or shine.

Departures on each day occur at 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m. Tickets are on sale and available at www.wcra.org.
