Trumpeter swans gather in Squamish (Video)

Squamish birder captures trumpeter swans in the estuary.

Squamish birder Chris Dale spotted a group of trumpeter swans in the Squamish Estuary on March 17.

Trumpeter swans are the heaviest living bird native to North America, according to All About Birds.

They have a wingspan of 185 to 250 cm.

"Despite their size, this once-endangered, now recovering species is as elegant as any swan, with a graceful neck and snowy-white plumage," reads the description on All About Birds, which includes tons of great facts about this unique bird.

Of course, if you spot them, keep your distance and always follow ethical photography guidelines.
