Get out and cheer on your favourite man!

Sarah Orlowski, master herbalist, is leading a herb walk at Cat Lake on Wednesday (Aug. 18) from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Participants are asked to meet at the parking lot at the Village Green Garden Centre on Mamquam Road. Wear good walking shoes and take along water and paper and pen for notes. If it is a nice day, consider packing your bathing suit, towel, bug repellent, camera and maybe some snacks. The Squamish Public Library Summer Reading Club will be hosing a Rock 'n Roll Kids Party on Thursday (Aug. 19) from 6 to 7 p.m. There will be games, crafts and snacks. The library will also be hosting a Wii Gaming Afternoon for all tweens and teens on Friday (Aug. 20) from 2 to 4 p.m. This is open for ages 10 years and up and some lucky players will win prizes. The Squamish Food Bank will open its doors at the Alano Club on Third Avenue on Wednesday (Aug. 18) for grocery distribution from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The annual Mini Rail Day at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park is this Sunday (Aug. 15) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. when resident and visiting engines will be operating. Mini rail rides are $3.50 each and the regular admission to the grounds is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for students and $40 for families. There will also be guided tours through the CN Roundhouse and Conference Centre where the Royal Hudson and refurbished cars, including the Pacific Great Eastern #72, are housed.

The Tantalus Seniors Walking Club will be walking the Discovery Trail on Thursday (Aug. 19) at 10 a.m. and members are asked to meet at Tim Horton's. For more information call Joyce at 604-898-5594.

Hilltop House will celebrate birthdays this month on Wednesday (Aug. 18) at 2 p.m. when Elsie Pullen, Karam Grewal, Edna Payne, Randy Walter and Lily Rinderer will be honoured.
