Members of the Squamish Environment Society know we're lucky to live in an area with an abundance of different birds.

The group is holding its monthly bird count at the Estuary next week, but a variety of birds have already been seen recently, including:

·         Eurasian Wigeon

·         American Wigeons

·         Horned Grebe

·         Western Grebe

·         20-plus bald eagles

·         Greater Yellowlegs

·         Dunlin

·         Long-billed Dowitcher

·         Great-horned Owl

·         Trumpeter Swans flying through

The Squamish Estuary Monthly Bird Count will be held on Nov. 11, from 8 a.m. to around noon. The annual Christmas Bird Count takes place on Dec. 15.
