After a successful debut in January, the Squamish Farmers' Market is set to make its return to the CN Roundhouse and Conference Centre for the group's winter market, starting on Sunday (Nov. 20).
The markets earlier this year saw the group draw close to 4,000 people spread out over four dates and the positive response has seen the number of dates expand to eight.
"I think it went really well," said organizer Carolyn Morris, "which is why we're doubling in size this year. We hope to attract more visitors and continue to grow."
Morris said that the November and December dates will be a great chance for locals to pick up something special for loved ones during the holiday season.
"There will be a bounty of artistic opportunities for holiday shoppers," she said. "We're really hoping to attract that holiday crowd and want to give it a holiday theme."
Just like the summer market, Morris said the winter market helps bring the community closer together.
"The success of the market is indicative of increased awareness, interest and investment in the local community," she said. "The market is a fantastic opportunity to support our local farmers, artisans and food vendors, while simultaneously feeding our local economy. It is wonderful to see this re-connection within the Sea to Sky Corridor."
Morris said the Roundhouse Centre is the perfect place for the winter market. She added that the group is still looking for vendors for the Nov. 20 debut and those interested can contact her at [email protected] for more information.
The market is set to take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 20, Jan. 15 and 29, Feb. 12 and 26, March 11 and 25 and April 8. There will also be a special start time for the Dec. 11 event, with doors opening at noon and lasting until 5 p.m.
