Baby's first movie review: two arms up

Entertainment

Having a child changes your life and it's not just the big things like dirty diapers, midnight feedings and safety gates. In fact, it's the little things that really take you off guard, like the fact that going out to a movie is pretty much off limits. Until now: thanks to the brilliant initiatives of our local theatre as they offer parent and tot viewings. Not only is this a great way to spend a couple hours, but I can now enlist my daughter for reviews. Since she's only nine months old she's given me permission to translate.

"Gggg bAAshee boo-ya. Ma ma ma pthee ggg."Thank you for letting me pontificate upon the most fantastic of visual feasts that is Tim Burton's latest animated effort, Corpse Bride.

"heEEbga. Geeee geeeee."

Truth be told, many of us younger viewers fell asleep for most of the movie, but what I saw blew my mind. The big funny characters sang and danced and in all my months I have yet to find an actor who has the weirdo role more nailed down than Johnny Depp.

"Thhhh ggg ba ba ba ba teee."

There are some dark bits that might cause a fright for some, but it is coming on Halloween and at the heart it's a very sweet love story told in what has become Tim Burton's unmistakable style.

"Hehehehe da ma phhhh."

All in all, parent and tot time is a nice way to spend an afternoon and you simply can't go wrong.
