Broadway show planned for February

The best of Broadway's music will take to the stage in Squamish.

Stage director and choreographer Ryan Mooney is holding auditions for a show he is calling Our Favourite Broadway, that will feature more than 40 songs from at least 25 different Broadway musicals.

According to Mooney, the show will start its run in February.Two audition nights are scheduled for the Sea to Sky Hotel so Mooney can pick the cast.

The first audition night is this Wednesday (Nov. 16) and a second night is set for Monday, Nov. 21. Both audition evenings will begin at 7 p.m. and continue to 10 p.m.

"We are looking for singers, dancers and actors from seven to seventy or older," said Mooney. "Performers must be prepared to sing a song no longer than 2 minutes. Also, as there will be a dance audition, please dress comfortably and bring dance shoes."

Direction and choreography for the show is going to be provided by Mooney and the musical director duties are being shared by Veronica McPhee and Melissa Bachert.

Four rehearsals have been scheduled before the winter break and in the New Year rehearsals will be held on Wednesdays and Saturdays in January. Mooney said not all cast members would be required to attend all rehearsals.

Mooney was the main driving force behind the Broadway or Bust summer performing arts camp for students.
