Get out your 20th century garb and celebrate the Brackendale Post Office and the community of Brackendale reaching landmark ages at this year's fall fair's festivities on September 9.

"To commemorate the post office's 100 years and Brackendale's 120 years dress accordingly," said fair organizer, Thor Froslev. "You can wear overalls and tartan shirts or dress up and wear hats and suits. Women can wear ankle-length skirts with cameos, hats, and scarves."

Also to celebrate the post office's centennial year the Brackendale office will be relocated to the fair grounds for the day."You can send a letter at the fair," said Froslev. "Get your Brackendale stamp."

Froslev said the day would be jammed packed with 60 vendors, live entertainment, mini-golf, zucchini races, hayrides, an exhibitors competition, a farm animal petting zoo, as well as a parade at 11 a.m. featuring the members of the 91-year-old Brackendale Farmer's Institute and the mayor of Squamish.

"You are there to be amused and there is lots to do," said Froslev. "All day there will be live music and local talent, as well as two clowns walking around doing what clowns do."

Froslev also said overwhelming amount of vendors and exhibitor's competition made the fair unique to Squamish.

Following the fair, which runs from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Froslev is hosting the Hootenanny that will place at the Brackendale Art Gallery from 8 p.m. onwards.

Froslev, who says he will be spending the day "kicking ass and making sure everything went right," said the entire event is a highlight of the year for him.

"It's a good damn weekend," he said. "It's about neighbourhood and to be with friends and neighbours is where it is at."

Interested vendors are asked to call Tracy Seille at 604-898-8358. People who wish to take part in the exhibitors competition, which has categories for produce and crafts, can buy competition tags at either the downtown or Garibaldi Highlands Squamish Savings bank branches.
