Music fans are in for a treat with a performance of a young up-and-coming talent's lyrical accomplishments at the Brackendale Bistro Friday (July 27) starting at 8 p.m.

Dan Mangan will perform melodies from his debut album - just released on July 10 - entitled Postcards and Daydreaming.

Mangan approaches songwriting with a great appreciation for the power of words and says he has a deep admiration for writers of all kinds.

"As an artist, I feel that when you are writing, no matter the medium or style, you should always be saying something," said Mangan, from his home in Vancouver. "It doesn't have to be as significant as changing the world, but it should be important to you."

Although only 24 years old, numerous music critics across North America agree that this singer/songwriter has a vocal maturity and stage presence that charms all who see and hear him. Mangan's musical accomplishments include a recent U.S. and U.K. tour, and songs licensed to Canadian television shows Whistler and Renegade Press.

"His lyrical content brings new meaning to every song he sings, and he makes people think about every word he says," states the music website, ronatron.net.

Tying together the roots of acoustic folk and subtle symphonic pop, Postcards & Daydreaming is unabashedly mellow, while Mangan's powerful, weather-beaten vocals hint at something lurking beneath.

Gaining fans with every performance, Mangan's finds himself in the footsteps of Ryan Adams, Damien Rice or Bright Eyes, building a grassroots following.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance for $10.
