Performer: Mike Hughesman

Charity: Breakfast Club for Children

The Men of Sea to Sky Ladies' Night June 5 will mark Mike Hughesman's first official performance, but he's not nervous - in fact he is quite excited about having 200 women to entertain because "It's every man's dream". Mike is married with two children, he is a mechanic and a volunteer Squamish Firefighter as well as a great supporter of local charities.

"I am thrilled to assist in raising money for the Breakfast Club, because they are providing a phenomenal service to the community," says Mike. "I am a father myself, so I hate the thought of children being hungry." The Breakfast Club provides breakfast for local children who come to school hungry.

Mike will be dancing for the women at the June 5th event. "My mother was a dance instructor, and I was often forced to participate as a partner in her classes. I found out early that women love a man who can dance. It's how I won my wife's heart."

Ticket holders can expect Mike's act to be flavored with humor, and personality as he shows off his flair for romance and drama. You can fall in love women - but remember you can't take him home.

Performer: Juan Carreras

Charity: Sea to Sky Community Services Society

Juan Carreras (aka Juan de Marias) started his musical studies as a classical guitarist in Barcelona, Spain in 1969, and three years later began the study of flamenco guitar with several teachers, including Andres Batista, Niño de las Cuevas, Antonio Francisco and Luis Verdu, Emilio Maya and Miguel Angel Cortes.

Juan has worked as both soloist and accompanist for numerous singers and dancers such as Gabriela Rojo, Ana Montes, Oscar Nieto, Jose Lara, Paco de Leon and Antonio Amaya. He has served as musical director, founding member and principal guitarist of the flamenco troupe Flamenkos and arranged the production Gypsy Soul, which has been presented across Western Canada. Juan has performed in Spain, England, Chile and Canada and is a regular performer at the flamenco circles in Vancouver. He is the principal guitarist of Gabriela Rojo Flamenco Company, teaches flamenco guitar and is currently working on his first recording.

Sea to Sky Community Services Society is a registered, non- profit agency that has been nonexistence for over 25 years. The organization is governed by a local volunteer Board of Directors. SSCSS has undergone significant changes over the past 25 years, starting out mainly as a small community service agency providing families and children's services to a medium sized multi-service agency providing community based programs throughout the Sea to Sky Corridor.
