A show by artist Georgia Lesley opens at the Newport Gallery in downtown Squamish tonight (July 30).
"The Leaves of One Tree" invites the viewer to explore the scope of "common essence" that all living things share. Georgia is very adept at capturing personality and character in her paintings. She also has a whimsical side that encourages her to draw in other spirit-forms into sky and landscape.
The show will open with an artist reception from 7 to 9 p.m. This coincides with the launch of Loggers Sports Weekend, so the downtown will be alive with a festival atmosphere. The Siska Hand Drummers from Lytton will be in attendance and there will also be musical performances by Farshid Kazami, a Persian flautist from Vancouver.
The show runs until Aug. 26.
