The Sky Family hits the stage at Church On 99 this Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug. 26 and 27). Tom Petrofsky, leader of the Prince Edward Island-based group said the act is heavily influenced by the Riverdance show and “features Celtic fiddle music with an East Coast flair.”

Get ready to raise the roof, Celtic-style, as East Coast Music Association award nominees The Sky Family bring their high-energy dance and gospel production to Church on 99 on Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug. 26 and 27).

“We’re a family band,” said Tom Petrofsky, leader of the Prince Edward Island-based group and dad to its four other members. “We are very influenced by the Riverdance show. We thought it was a wonderful production, so we have Riverdance elements and also Celtic fiddle music with an East Coast flair.”

He said the family friendly show also includes a fair dose of humour as well as traditional and original songs.

“Everyone in the family plays at least two musical instruments,” he said. “We’ve been doing this full-time for the past eight years, touring back and forth across the U.S. and Canada.”

The show is also meant to be inspirational, he said.

“We seek to draw people closer to God,” said Petrofsky. “Through the show we hope to renew people’s love for God and to point out all the good that he does.”

The show, called Celtic Revival, runs Tuesday and Wednesday at Church On 99 starting at 7 p.m. on both evenings. A donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children is being suggested for admission to the show.
