Award winning hip-hop group Swollen Members plays the Ocean Port this month, and the show promises to thrill fans with a preview of an as yet unreleased album.

Swollen Members just picked up their fourth Juno for best rap album, Black Magic, at the 36th annual Juno Award gala in Saskatoon March 21 and on April 21, they perform for a Squamish audience.

Tickets are $20 and although Dave Hicks, manager of the Ocean Port, doesn't know exactly how many tickets are sold to date, he said they are selling fast. He said he expects the Ocean Port's 200 capacity will be filled.

"I would be quite shocked if it didn't sell out."

Tickets are already going to people from outside the area, such as Kelowna the Okanagan.

Hicks is not sure exactly how many of the Swollen Members will perform, but said the scene will be a who's who of the rap world, with the possibility of an appearance by any number of Battle Ax label performers - the independent record company Swollen Members is under contract with.

The group will be playing new material from their upcoming album Beautiful Death Machine set to be released in September. The group just finished touring in Europe before going to Saskatoon to collect their Juno. Now they're back in B.C., and Hicks said they're happy to be in their home province again.

"They really like it in the corridor. They're up there snowboarding up at Whistler quite a bit," he said. With Black Magic, Swollen Members went back to the group's original dark and heavy sound after fans were disappointed with their last album, Heavy.
