Locals are in for a wild ride during the annual James Bondage Valentine's Day bash at the Howe Sound Brew Pub Saturday (Feb. 11).

Although the costume-encouraged event may sound kinky, it's all in the name of fun, charity and sexual freedom, said organizer Eric Armour.

"Be a Bond girl, be James, be the lowly factory worker in the nuclear plant that unwittingly gets blown up every movie, or feel free to be as risqué as you dare it's completely up to you," said Armour.

He said that as owner of the Trinity Romance Shop, which is "in the business of sexual education, awareness, and empowerment," donating the proceeds to women's programs seemed like a natural fit.

"The Howe Sound Women's Centre connects to people that are in the process of rebuilding confidence, and trust in not only men and society, but in ultimately themselves," said Armour. "Trinity Romance Shop believes that by empowering ourselves sexually (the base level that ties us all together) it results in a ripple effect throughout our lives giving ourselves more confidence and inner strength."

The event will include a lingerie fashion show, a light show, wild hairdos provided by the local salons in town, and two DJs. The most entertaining part of the evening may well be stilt performers from the Sunshine Coast called Mythmakers who also promote empowerment of community and youth through interactive entertainment and education.

A $15 donation will be accepted at the door.
