Popular Vancouver band The Kitchen will travel up the Sea to Sky Highway this weekend and bring their unique musical stylings with them.

"This will be our first ride up to Squamish," said band front man Joshua Hundert. "I've done most of my outdoors kind of stuff in the interior, so I'm looking forward to getting out while we're up there."

When they're not taking advantage of our outdoor recreation opportunities, the band will be onstage at the Howe Sound Inn and Brew Pub, playing two hour-long sets starting at 10 p.m. on Saturday night (April 14).

Joining vocalist Hundert will be bassist Earl Fillion, Luke Cyca on drums, and guitarists Andrew Park and Iisak Andreller."We play a rock-soul-funk fusion style of music," said Hundert. "It's not true funk, we don't have a horn section."

The five-piece ensemble also blends elements of punk, jazz, ska, and glam-rock into their songs.

"It's definitely danceable," said Hundert. "Anyone who comes out to the show should definitely expect to have music to dance to."The group is no stranger to the Lower Mainland's music scene, having shared the stage with some of Vancouver's most notable acts including Freeflow, the Winks, Josh Martinez, Stabilo, and Threat From Outer Space.

The Kitchen's sets will blend tracks from their independently released self-titled debut album, which has been on the shelf since last April, with new songs they hope to record this summer.

"We're going to be going into the studio this summer for a follow up album," said Hundert.
