Healthier communities lead to healthier families. Communities That Care is organizing a day of community celebration for the whole family. The event is at the Brennan Park Leisure Centre from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday (March 11).

Healthier communities lead to healthier families. Communities That Care is organizing a day of community celebration for the whole family. The event is at the Brennan Park Leisure Centre from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday (March 11).

Local performers will present a diversity of acts all in the name of health and fitness. Performances include dancing by Hip Hop Dancers, Squamish Nation Dancers, Still Dancing as well as Tae Kwon Do and Squamish Youth Theatre.

The event is free and there will be free swimming from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and free skating from 7:25 p.m. to 8:25 p.m. Kids and grown-ups alike will enjoy games such as Disney trivia, basketball and hockey, potato sack races, obstacles courses and scavenger hunts.

The community party is supported by Vancouver Coastal Health, the Hotspot and Coast Garibaldi Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Strategy.

Stations throughout the leisure centre will focus on health and fitness. Stations will be set up at Brennan Park Leisure Centre from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. that will allow visitors to test their blood pressure, blood sugar levels and fitness.
