Squamish Nation officials are inviting the community to their upcoming National Aboriginal Day celebration at Totem Hall.
The event, which takes place on Tuesday, June 21 - National Aboriginal Day -begins at 11:30 a.m. It will kick off with a welcoming song from Squamish Nation Councillors Dale Harry and Josh Joseph. There will also be drumming and dancing, and lunch will be served at noon.
The highlight of the festivities will occur after lunch, when teams from the Squamish Nation, B.C. Ambulance, the Coast Guard Auxiliary and RCMP will take part in the Dean Adams Memorial Canoe Race on the Mamquam Blind Channel near Stawamus Village.
All are invited. It's also a school day, students from nearby Stawamus Elementary School have been invited to take part, an official said.
