ABOUT TOWN: Chip in by chipping up Christmas trees

The Squamish Scouts are offering Christmas tree chipping services at the Garden Centre on Mamquam road tomorrow (Jan. 5) Your donations to the Squamish Food Bank of non-perishable food items would be, as always, very much appreciated as well.

The annual Brackendale Eagle Count takes place on Sunday (Jan. 6) when volunteers from throughout Squamish and the Lower Mainland gather at the Brackendale Art Gallery at 9 a.m. to prepare for the count.

Eagle walking tours will be offered throughout the day as well.



Registration for Storytimes at the Squamish Public Library will begin on Monday (Jan. 7) at 1 p.m. with programs resuming on Jan. 14. The book sale at the library is also continuing until Sunday (Jan. 6). Pick up a new library book bag for $4 each and fill it with books from the sale.



The Squamish Toastmasters Club is hosting an Open House on Tuesday (Jan. 8) at 7 p.m. in the community room at the Squamish Public Library. If you wish more information, please call Kim at 604-815-5025.



The first gathering of the New Year for the GrassRoots Jam will take place at the Brackendale Art Gallery on Sunday (Jan. 6) from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

It is the same day as the Eagle Count and you might like to stay and enjoy performances from the musicians and singers in a very relaxed atmosphere. Everyone in the community is welcome to join in the fun.

Many of us seniors are anxious to get back to the Seniors Keep Well exercise program at Brennan Park Recreation Centre. The classes start again on Monday (Jan. 7) and each Monday and Wednesday through to March 12 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Our popular instructor is Sacha Molby.
