Mary Ackenhusen, a member of the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) senior executive team, has been named president and CEO of the health authority, effective April 14.
Ackenhusen, who joined VCH's executive team in 2007 from Fraser Health in 2007, will replace Dr. David Ostrow, who is retiring, as head of the health authority that includes the Sea to Sky Corridor, VCH officials said in a statement issued on Tuesday (March 4).
VCH Chair Kip Woodward said Ackenhusen has shown outstanding leadership and a commitment to innovation, efficiency and productivity to support the organization's True North goals and strategies.
Ackenhusen is a Masters graduate of Harvard Business School and West Virginia University, and was a vice president at Fraser Health for seven years before joining VCH as chief operating officer for the Coastal Community of Care. In 2010 she accepted the role of chief operating officer for Vancouver.
