A haze of smoke can be seen from the Squamish area. Fumes from raging wildfires across the province have advanced into town.

As smoke blown from wildfires across the province forms a haze in Squamish, the federal government's air quality index for the town is expected to border on moderate risk as of noon.

The air quality rating is expected to climb by one step to three by 12 p.m., according to forecasts, which means that all local residents may continue about thier normal activities.

However, this measurement is just a step below four, which is when at-risk populations may want to consider reducing their levels of stenuous outdoor exercise.

At-risk populations are typically those with respiratory conditions such as asthma, seniors and children.

The air quality index rating of three is expected to continue until tomorrow.
