Attempted rebar theft strikes Squamish

This week Squamish RCMP were on the lookout for a person suspected of trying to steal rebar.

 

On Wednesday, July 9, at approximately 2:10 p.m. police responded to a report of a theft in progress at the Aqua Development construction site near Fourth Avenue and Main Street. Two males connected with a beige Ford F150 parked by the estuary were located and arrested for taking rebar out of the site. The suspects, Squamish residents aged 43 and 26 years old, are being charged with theft under $5,000.

Mountain bikes stolen

Also on Wednesday, July 9, two mountain bikes were reported stolen from the backyard of a residence in the 1000 block of Pennylane Pl. The unsecured bikes had been stolen sometime over in the past three weeks. Stolen were a women’s white Specialized Hard Rock 21 speed mountain bike, valued at approx. $1000, and a  white and green women’s Myka Sport Disk bike valued at $600.

Campground assult

On Saturday, July 12, at approximately 6:30 a.m. police responded to a report of an assault having occurred at the Squamish Valley Campground. Others at the campground had intervened and had a male and female separated, awaiting the arrival of police. A 29-year-old male from Edmonton is being charged with assaulting his 25-year-old girlfriend. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

Golf clubs missing 

 On Thursday, July 10, police received a report that a storage locker located in the 37000 block of Third Ave. had been broken into. A set of golf clubs and painting tools were stolen. The incident occurred sometime in April or May. 

Boat motor stolen

On Saturday, July 12, a Honda boat motor was reported stolen from a boat at a residence in the 1000 block of Pennylane Pl. Bolts were removed and a safety chain had been cut to remove the motor, which was a 8 HP Honda “Kicker,” valued at $3,000. The theft occurred sometime between June 18 and July 12.

Vehicle windows smashed

On Sunday, July 13, police received two reports of vehicles with smashed windows at the end of Daisy Lake Road. The first had its front passenger window broken and stolen was a food cooler with food and drinks. The second had a black and white North Face back pack containing clothing stolen.
