A mountain bike was stolen from a home in Valleycliffe on the weekend the third bike that has been stolen from the same home in the past three months.
The latest incident was reported to police on Sunday (Aug. 19). Suspicious noises were noticed inside the home at around 3 a.m., but the theft of a men's grey, 18-speed Norco Shore mountain bike wasn't noticed until mid-morning, RCMP Sgt. Wayne Pride said in a statement. The stolen bike is valued at around $2,000. An unlocked rear door was used to gain access to the bike, Pride said.
In the past three months, two other bikes have been reported stolen from the same home, but not reported a grey mens 18-speed Giant Big Hit and a grey mens 18-speed Kona Coiler. Police are investigating the thefts, Pride said.
In a separate incident on Friday (Aug. 17), police received a report of a male seen stealing a bike from the garage of a home on University Boulevard. When police arrived they were advised that two bikes had been stolen, one of which officers located a short distance away, hidden behind a building. The missing bike is a black, men's 21-speed K.O.S. downhill bike valued at around $5,000.
Passports, other items stolen
Several electronic devices, a wallet, a credit card and passports were among the items stolen from a vehicle parked in the Smoke Bluffs parking lot on Friday (Aug. 17) between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. A driver's-side window was smashed and three bags were stolen. The bags contained a camera bag, an iPhone, two iPod Nanos, a Blackberry phone charger and climbing shoots, in addition to the wallet and passports.
On Wednesday (Aug. 15), credit cards, an iPad HD and headphones, $100 cash and clothing were stolen from a vehicle parked in the Shannon Falls parking lot. The vehicle did not appear to have been damaged.
Man arrested
Last Tuesday (Aug. 14) police attended the 38000 block of Hemlock Avenue in Valleycliffe in response to a report of an assault. At the scene police arrested a 41-year-old Squamish man for allegedly assaulting his 36-year-old wife.
Woman arrested
On Saturday (Aug. 18), police arrested a 51-year-old Squamish woman found driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen from North Vancouver the previous week. The arrest occurred after RCMP received a report of an erratic driver northbound on Highway 99 north of Loggers Creek and located the suspect, who is well-known to police.
